  • Ransomware

A type of malware that encrypts files on your computer and then presents you with an ultimatum: pay a fee to unlock the data or don’t pay and lose the data for good. Statistics are showing ransomware activity grew +30% from 2016 to 2017 and will continue to rise through 2019 and beyond.

  • Crime-as-a-Service (CaaS)

The Cyber Black Market couldn’t be more user friendly! You don’t need to be a computer wizard to launch a malicious attack. Pre-packaged hacking services and a variety of illegal resources can be bought easily for a fee.

  • The Human Factor

Not all Cyber events involve external threats nor can they be prevented by a firewall. According to cyber claims studies, over 40% of Cyber claims involved either human error (lost laptop, email typos) or a rogue employee.

  • My business isn’t a target for hackers

Cyber-crime is blind in its targeting. Every company - large or small - is at risk. A cyber-criminal launches a piece of malware that attacks millions of business computer systems looking for any opening and vulnerability to exploit.

  • We have the best network security on the planet! We are impenetrable!

It is simply impossible to become 100% impenetrable. Just ask the FBI, NASA, JP Morgan Chase and the New York Times. Also, network security attacks are only half of the Cyber problem. A significant portion of privacy breach events are caused by fraudulent employees or human error.

  • I don’t have the risk, I use third party vendors

While you can transfer certain operational needs (data storage, processing, hosting) to a third-party vendor, you can’t fully transfer your liability if a breach occurs. Simply put, customers and clients can still sue you.
